cross-docking

Warehouses with gates for handling the goods in a cross-docking manner, which enable reloading of goods from one vehicle to another without having to store the goods. Often cross-docking warehouses are sought after by courier and logistics companies operating a distribution centre. Thanks to cross-docking, it is possible to limit the links in the supply chain, which further reduces the delivery time of the goods. Another advantage is reducing the risk of potential delay. Another is to shorten or completely omit the process of storing goods in the warehouse. In warehouses intended for cross-docking, gates (often courier gates) and docks used for unloading and loading goods are located on opposite sides of the warehouse to improve the time of reloading from various types and sizes of cars. Halls can also be equipped with entrances – so-called loading fingers. See cross-docking warehouses in Poland.
