The creative industry is one of the most demanding types of office space tenants. Full-service advertising agencies, media and creative houses attach great importance to the workplace. Creative company’s office must inspire creative work and ensure good communication between project teams. How to achieve it? What elements of the specificity of the industry are worth attending to in order to properly match the space and solutions to the needs of a very demanding target group?

Characteristics of the office space for the creative industry

Companies associated with the broadly understood world of advertising, marketing and media technologies when renting new office space depending on the original, unique and innovative design of the workspace arrangement. The value and success of a company in the industry are determined by innovativeness in the approach to projects combined with the measurability of effects. Today, in a global village, the company’s goal and the individual goal are to stand out from the crowd, show their “unique self”, which in the case of advertising agencies will also express themselves through the office space.

Creative companies attach great importance to the design of office space in distinction from other industries. Each project must be unique, does not use standard solutions, it always has to be characterized by an unusual approach that will trigger the “wow” effect.

The work mode consisting in project work in variously configured teams requires more than the standard common workspace. A dozen or so square meters per one employee in this case, but the market average is about 9 sq m.

Companies in the creative industry do not always choose offices in central locations. They decide on places with good access to public transport. They are looking for facilities with attractive rents and they spend a larger budget on equipment and office arrangements. In the case of large full-service agencies, apart from designer elements, high-cost elements of the office’s preparation are separate music and film studies.

Solutions for the creative industry

What distinguishes the office created for the creative industry?

  • First of all is a space that stimulates creative thinking. The latest trends imply the design of “light” rooms that contain natural colours (mainly shades of green).
  • Highly appreciated are also a large amount of natural light and an open space, understood as a large area, while maintaining intimacy for each employee, but not in the form of a “box” popular in the 90s.
  • On the walls very often you can see wall murals with forests, beaches, meadows, and other landscapes that are designed to relax and calm the worker.
  • It is also important to properly sound out space. This applies to such elements as soundproofing only desks, carpet, small acoustic walls, above-standard insulated conference walls.
  • In advertising agency offices there is also an entertainment zone, equipped with game consoles, “table football” or hammocks.
  • The kitchen, which is the place of not only meals but also informal meetings, is a key room in a modernly designed office space for the creative industry.
